Wires down cause power outage in Chatham 02/24/16
Columbia County 911 dispatched Chatham Firefighters at 8:34am for a report of wires down in front of 5 Library Place in the Village of Chatham. The wires came down on a Toyota at that location. Within minutes 911 also received calls for wires down near the intersection of Kinderhook Street and Park Row.

New York State Electric and Gas was requested to respond. It was reported that a tree limb caused a fire to burn through the wires at 5 Library Place. The power then back fed back to Kinderhook Street, found a weak spot and caused the wires to drop there.

The vehicle in the photos was reportedly not damaged.

The Chatham Police Department assisted at the scene.

Firefighters were back in service at 9:55am.
