Two Car Serious AAPI Route 66 Chatham 11/18/14
Columbia County 911 dispatched TriVillage Firefighters and Chatham Rescue at 5:22pm for a reported two car accident with entrapment on Route 66 just north of Boice Road in the Town of Chatham. A helicopter was placed on standby. Columbia County Fire Coordinator John Howe arrived and reported entrapment in both vehicles.
Initially, two helicopters were requested to respond. LifeNet72 responded to a landing zone that was set up at Niverville Station #1. A second helicopter was unable to respond. Two patients were taken to Albany Medical Center, one by air and one by ground.
Mutual aid to the scene was from Chatham FD and CC Valatie Rescue. Niverville FD set up a landing zone at their Station #1.
Columbia County Deputy Fire Coordinator Pete Harvey was on the scene.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Department is investigating. The New York State Police assisted at the scene.
Route 66 was closed during the incident.
Firefighters were back in service at 10:53pm.
