04/22/16 Structure Fire Joslen Boulevard Greenport
Around 9:30am Friday 4/22/16 the Greenport Fire Department responded to a house fire at 592 Joslen Boulevard in the Town of Greenport. A New York State Police Patrol on scene confirmed heavy fire on first and second floors. Greenport Firemen were assisted at the scene by Hudson & Stottville Fire Departments. No one was home at the time however two family dogs perished in the fire.
Two Greenport firefighters were transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital by the Greenport Rescue Squad and were treated and released, one for heat exhaustion and the other for a foot injury.
Assisting at the scene were New York State Police BCI, Greenport Police Department, Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office, Columbia County Cause and Origin team and the American Red Cross.
The Livingston, Germantown and Claverack fire departments stood-by for Greenport during the fire.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
The occupants were issued emergency clothing vouchers from the Columbia County Fire Chiefs Association and were provided lodging by the Red Cross.
