NIVERVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT CELEBRATES 100 YEARS OF SERVICE 03/12/16

umbiaThe Niverville Fire Department celebrated its 100 years of Service with its annual banquet Saturday March 12, 2016. The festivities were held at Jackson’s Old Chatham House in Old Chatham.
Presiding over the event was Department President Robert Hawley Sr. and Chief of Department Wayne Huyck. Master of Ceremonies was Treasurer James Hogencamp. Niverville Fire Department Chaplain Ken Kannaley offered the invocation. Chaplain Kannaley also presented an interesting history encompassing their first 100 years.

Niverville’s Ladies Auxiliary, a very active and important organization that assists the Firefighting unit installed their new officers.

Treasurer: Dawn Richardson

Invited guests for the Banquet represented the following Fire Departments: Austerlitz, Chatham, Claverack, Kinderhook, Nassau, North Chatham, Schodack Landing, South Schodack, Stuyvesant, Tri-Village, and Valatie. Representatives from Columbia County 911, Fire Coordinator’s Office, Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police, Valatie Rescue Squad, and the supervisors from Chatham and Kinderhook. 

Second Assistant Chief Dave Quinn, from the South Schodack FD, and representing FASNY, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Chief Huyck and President  Hawley for the department’s 100 years of continuous service to their District.

Awards were presented to many. Firefighter Jonathan Corbin was awarded the Firefighter of the Year. Those accumliating the highest number of points, based on calls and social events were also cited. First Assistant Chief Tim Stever led the list.

Niverville will also be hosting this year’s 91st annual Columbia County Firemens Convention and Parade, July 29-30 2016.
