Milk Tanker Rollover Route 66 Ghent 02-13-14
Columbia County 911 dispatched West Ghent Firefighters at 3:42pm for a reported tractor trailer on its side on Route 66 just south of Sheep Meadow Animal Hospital in Ghent. The accident was actually at the intersection of State Route 66 and M&R Lane and involved a milk tanker truck.
Greenport Rescue was requested by the New York State Police to check the driver. It was originally reported that there were no injuries.
A helicopter was placed on standby but declined due to the weather.
The driver of the truck refused medical attention from Greenport Rescue.
State Route 66 was reduced down to one lane between Tipple Road and Ostrander Road during the incident.
The New York State Police investigated and the Columbia County Sheriff's Department assisted.
The roadway was fully open and Firefighters were back in service at 7:57pm.
