Lightning Strikes Home in Austerlitz 08/15/15
Columbia County 911 dispatched Austerlitz Fire District Firefighters and under automatic mutual aid Niverville Firefighters with their F.A.S.T. team and Greenport Rescue at 9:59pm for a report that a home was struck by lightning at 325 School House Road in the Town of Austerlitz. Command reported a fire in the ceiling and requested additional mutual aid to the scene from Ghent, Hillsdale, Philmont, Red Rock and Chatham.
Copake stood by in their quarters for Hillsdale.
East Chatham stood by in Chatham's quarters to cover calls for Chatham and Ghent.
NYS Electric & Gas was requested to the scene to disconnect power.
Deputy Fire Coordinators Hunt, Keeler and Loeffler were on the scene.
Firefighters were back in service at 3:10am.
