Greenport and Hudson Fire Departments Mutual Aid to Catskill 05/25/18
Catskill Fire responded to a structure fire today around lunchtime at the point. Frank Guidos Port of Call Restaurant on the river had smoke pouring from a wall and employees called 911. Catskill fire responded with 2 engines a tower and rescue . Upon arrival a second alarm was struck for Catskill bringing Greenport with a fast team, Hudson with an engine, Leeds and Athens with manpower. Interior crews knocked the fire down on the first floor and started opening up. Hudson arrived and went to the second floor to check for extension. A second engine from Hudson was requested and manpower from Kiskatom as crews were opening up the walls, ceiling and roof on a first floor area that spanned between the original building and a large beautiful addition. This building is historical and iconic to a lot of locals. We were fortunate to have a fast response and plenty of manpower to handle any further extension from the fire. Saugerties and Palenville covered Catskill for any further emergencies.We also had Catskill EMS, Police, DPW, and Greene EMS to assist as well as Greene 911 Dispatchers.Thank you to all who assisted in saving this landmark.
