Funeral of Captain Jack Rose Mount Marion Fire Department 12/28/15
SAUGERTIES…Jack Henry Gerard Rose, 19, died tragically Saturday, December 19, 2015 as a result of injuries sustained in a firefighting incident. Born September 13, 1996 in Monterey, CA, Jack is the son of Gary and Linda (Himberger) Rose. He grew up in Saugerties, attended St. Mary's of the Snow Elementary in and John A. Coleman High School in Kingston, New York, where he graduated in 2014.
Jack was an honors student throughout his years at John A. Coleman High School, a member of the National Honors Society and a varsity member of both the golf and tennis teams.
He was an active member of the Mt. Marion Fire Department, where he fulfilled his life-long dream of becoming a firefighter. He has served over 3 years and was recently elected to the rank of Captain.
Jack was a rare and fiercely loyal young man. His level of commitment extended to his family, firehouse, friends, studies, and community.
From a young age, he made it known that firefighting was his absolute passion. Jack was a compassionate friend who always knew exactly how to lift a friend in need. He was an example to all and will always be remembered for his wicked sense of humor, sweet smile, selflessness, and dedication.
In addition to his parents, Jack will be cherished and honored always by his brother Matthew, sister-in-law Jessica Lopez Rose of Saugerties, adored niece Marley Rose; uncles and aunts, Richard Himberger, Edward & Brigid Walsh Himberger, Peter & Christina Himberger, Kerry Rose, Bonnie Rose, and Donna & Ken Goren. Cousins Paul, Milo, and Grace Himberger, great-uncle Henry Furboter, the Furboter family, the Lopez family, his firefighting family, loyal friends and dog "Buddy Nelson Rose."
His Funeral Procession will form 10:00 AM Monday, December 28th at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. on the corner of John & Lafayette Streets in Saugerties. Thence to St. John the Evangelist RC Church in Centerville where at 12 Noon his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment with firematic honors will be conducted at St. Mary's Cemetery, Barclay Heights.

Columbia County Firefighters attended the funeral of Captain Jack Rose of the Mount Marion Fire Department who died in the line of duty on December 19, 2015.
Firefighters assembled at Columbia Greene Community College and then traveled to Saugerties.
Firefighters from Ancram, Canaan, Chatham, Churchtown, Claverack, Clermont, East Chatham, Germantown, Ghent, Greenport, Hudson, Mellenville, Stockport, Stuyvesant, and Taghkanic attended and payed their respects.
