Fuel Spill on the NYS Thruway Canaan 03/12/20
Columbia County 911 dispatched Canaan and Red Rock Firefighters at 9:41am for a reported property damage accident and fuel leak on the westbound entry ramp to Exit B-3 of the New York State Thruway in Canaan.
It was reported that a tractor trailer that was hauling jersey barriers was entering the Thruway and struck the guardrails on the left side. The accident caused the diesel saddle tank to rupture and leak.
The Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office, Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response and New York State Thruway personnel were on the scene.
The New York State Police from Troop T investigated.
Firefighters were back in service at 11:34am.
