06/22/14 Five Injured in Route 23 Accident Hillsdale
Columbia County 911 dispatched Hillsdale Firefighters and Copake Rescue at 3:51pm for a reported two vehicle accident with entrapment on Route 23 in Hillsdale. The accident occurred just west Bushnell Road. Utility poles and wires were reported down and a field was on fire due to the downed wires.
Command requested mutual aid from Craryville FD and Copake FD.
Mutual aid ambulances responded from CC Greenport Rescue and CC Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
A helicopter was placed on standby and then requested to the scene.
Five patients were transported to Albany Medical Center, four by ambulance and one by LifeGuard 12 helicopter.
The Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office was on the scene.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was advised of fluids that leaked from the overturned truck.
The accident caused a power outage that affected approximately 2000 New York State Electric & Gas customers. NYSE&G Was on the scene and made repairs.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Department investigated and were assisted by the New York State Police.
Firefighters were back in service at 7:59pm.
