04/14/14 Fire at the Blue Plate Restaurant Chatham
Columbia County 911 received multiple calls and dispatched Chatham Firefighters and Chatham Rescue at 1:32pm for a reported fire on the third floor porch of the Blue Plate Restaurant at 1 Kinderhook Street in the Village of Chatham. Automatic mutual aid was dispatched from Valatie, Ghent and Red Rock with their F.A.S.T. team.
Chatham Car 1, who was fighting a brush fire in Claverack with his department, requested additional mutual aid from Austerlitz, East Chatham, Kinderhook, Hudson with their ladder and Niverville with their F.A.S.T. team to the scene.
Command reported the fire knocked down at 1:44pm.
One firefighter was transported to CMH in Hudson by Chatham Rescue.
It was reported the fire was contained to a chair and a table on the porch. The fire was reportedly started by an improperly disposed of cigarette.
All Firefighters were back in service at 2:25pm.
