Drill, Drill only in Greenport 09/08/19
The Greenport Fire Department ran a water supply drill on Frese Road off of Mount Merino Road this morning. The purpose was to ensure we could establish and maintain a good water supply to handle a house fire by flowing 600 to 800 gallons per minute. We used over 2,000 feet of 5” LDH to push water up an elevation of around 200ft. We easily did 600gpm and were able to ultimately flow about 1,000gpm for about a half hour.
Thanks to all participants who gave up a few hours of their Sunday morning including all three Greenport stations, Hudson Fire who provided a pumper to fill tankers, Stottville with their reel truck, and the tankers from Germantown, Livingston, West Ghent, Claverack and Leeds.
