Battalion Response to Brush Fire in Hillsdale 04/18/16
Columbia County 911 dispatched the Austerlitz Fire District and Community Rescue at 2:25pm for a reported brush fire at 51 Stoneledge Road in the Town of Hillsdale. A NYS Forest Ranger stated the fire was visible from the Fire Tower on County Route 5.
Command requested Hillsdale to standby in their own quarters and then requested them to the scene. He then requested Red Rock to the scene. Shortly after Command then requested a Battalion Five response with manpower and brush firefighting equipment. Ghent was also requested to the scene.
Fire departments that were on the scene were: Austerlitz and Spencertown, Hillsdale, Red Rock, Ghent, Canaan, East Chatham, Lebanon Valley, Niverville, North Chatham, and TriVillage.
The Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office and a New York State Forest Ranger were on the scene.
One firefighter was transported to Fariview Hospital by Community Rescue with an arm injury.
It was reported approximately four acres burned.
Firefighters were back in service at 7:44pm.
