ColumbiaPage... a website dedicated to the volunteer firefighters of Columbia County.

I created this site for the Volunteer Firefighters of Columbia County, New York. I am a retired 911 dispatcher that worked for Columbia County 911 in New York. I retired on November 27, 2016. I started dispatching in 1988 when I started with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department. My county dispatch number was 11-27. I am a past police officer and Corporal of the Village of Chatham Police Department. I started there in 1983. I was a road deputy with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department. After working the road and communications I found that the Communications Division was for me. I have been a volunteer firefighter since 1981. I am currently a member of the Canaan Protective Fire Company. I am a past member of the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company and East Chatham Fire Company. I'm also a life member of the Chatham Rescue Squad.
One of my interests is photography. I started taking photos in my high school years. I was a yearbook photographer and developed my own black and white images. I started out with my fathers old Voightlander 35mm camera. I now use a Pentax SLR Digital K100D. What a difference digital makes! I have had photos published in: The Columbia Paper, ccScoop, The Chatham Courier, The Chatham Press, Register Star, The Independent, Albany Times Union, Berkshire Eagle, Firehouse Magazine, The New York Trooper Magazine, The Empire State Sheriff Magazine, and 1st Responder Newspaper and website. Also my photos have been used in calendars for Columbia County, LifeNet of New York and in an exhibit at the Firemen's Museum in Hudson, New York. Many of my photos appear on the web on fire department websites.
Photographs that I have taken are now on display at the East Chatham Food Company. Check them out and have a great meal. Bring your fire department patch to add to their patch display. When you go tell them that 11-27R sent ya!
