AAPI Route 9 & Atlantic Ave. Stockport 02/14/20
Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that on February 14, 2020 at approximately 1:01pm, Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched by Columbia County 911 for a two vehicle personal injury accident on State Route 9, at the intersection with Atlantic Avenue in the Town of Stockport.

Deputies found that a 2007 Honda Accord, operated by 34 year old Christopher Greene of Kinderhook NY, was driving northbound on State Route 9 and struck a 2010 Ford Explorer that was entering the intersection from Atlantic Avenue.  The Ford Explorer, operated by 64 year old Sueann Cooley of Stockport NY, was crossing State Route 9 to enter West Atlantic Avenue when she was struck.

Mr. Greene complained of injuries to his chest and left hip.  He was transported to Albany Medical Center by Valatie Rescue Squad.

Mrs. Cooley complained of injuries to her neck, upper chest, ankle and wrist from the crash.  She was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital by Greenport Rescue Squad.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The preliminary investigation shows that Mr. Greene ran the red light at the intersection and struck the Explorer.  The investigation is continuing and tickets are pending at this time.
The Greenport Rescue Squad, Valatie Rescue Squad, Stottville Fire Company, Stockport Fire Company, West Ghent Fire Department, Greenport Police Department, and Stockport Highway Department assisted at the scene.
