AAPI Route 22 & Route 295 Canaan 10/27/18
Columbia County 911 dispatched Canaan Firefighters and Chatham Rescue at 1:30pm for a reported AAPI rollover at the intersection of Route 22 and Route 295 in the Town of Canaan. Red Rock Firefighters were dispatched under automatic mutual aid.

It was reported the power was out in the area and the traffic light was out. A northbound vehicle and and westbound vehicle stuck each other at the intersection. It appears the northbound vehicle then struck a road sign. The westbound vehicle then struck multiple vehicles in the parking lot of the BarKen Service Station and landed on its side.

A LifeNet Helicopter was placed on standby but declined due to weather. Chatham Rescue transported to Berkshire Medical Center.

New York State Department of Transportation was called to assist with traffic control.

The New York State Police investigated.

Firefighters were back in service at 3:42pm.
