911 Address Signs

Residence Identification is one of the most important aspects of a successful 9-1-1 system!
Residence identification may be obtained through the use of standardized address signs and markers. A conspicuously posted sign displaying the street address completes the link between assigning addresses and locating the particular residence of business.
For rural residents who do not have a mailbox, we have designed a metal sign that is white with yellow reflective decal in the center. The decal is in the shape of Columbia County and has the numbers “911” in the center. The house number is displayed in 2” red reflective numbers on the top portion of the sign. This makes the house number visible during both daytime and evening hours. A 5’ metal post may be used to display the sign. Some residents may choose to mount their sign on a tree, fence, etc. (As long as it is clearly visible to emergency vehicles.)
Residents who currently have a mailbox which is located at the end of their driveway may choose to indicate their house number on the mailbox. 2” reflective numbers should also be used for this purpose and placed on both sides of the mailbox.
