Columbia County 911 dispatched Niverville Firefighters and Valatie Rescue at 7:48a.m. for a
reported serious accident by 3226 Route 9 in the Town of Kinderhook. The accident was between Birch Road and Cortland Drive.
A flatbed truck was southbound on Route 9 and was transporting two U.S. mail trucks when it went off the roadway
and struck a tree.
A LifeNet helicopter was placed on standby but declined to fly due to the weather conditions.
The operator, Schuyler Burns age 22 of Loudenville, was transported by Valatie Rescue to Albany Medical Center.
Route 9 was closed during the incident.
The New York State Police are investigating.
