Germantown Firefighters were dispatched by Columbia 911 for a reported barn fire at 7:39a.m. The barn was located at the corner of Old Sawmill Road and Lasher Avenue in the Town of Germantown. It was reported by passerby and partly extinguished by members of the Clermont Highway department.

Germantown Command requested a tanker from Clermont to the scene.

A heater used in the barn to keep the water from freezing was apparently knocked over by the animals onto a pile of hay.  No injuries to the livestock were reported.

Northern Dutchess Paramedics were on the scene. No injuries were reported.

Units were back in service at 8:52a.m.
