Columbia 911 dispatched Copake and Ancram Firefighters to a reported barn fire just before 3p.m. at the Miller Farm located at 257 Empire Road in the Town of Copake. It was reported there were cattle in the barn and some of them perished. Reports from the scene state neighbors, Fire and Rescue personnel rescued some cows from two barns.

A Copake line officer reported heavy smoke in the area while he was responding and requested Hillsdale to standby in their quarters.  Copake Command then confirmed a working fire and requested mutual aid to the scene from Hillsdale, Craryville, and Millerton.

Command then requested a Battalion 3 response with manpower. This additionally brought firefighters from Taghkanic and Churchtown to the scene.  

Taghkanic also stoodby in their own quarters for Ancram.

Millerton additionally stoodby at Copake Station #1.

Philmont stoodby in Craryvilles quarters.

Egremont stoodby in Hillsdales quarters. While standing by Egremont responded with Hillsdale to a fire alarm activation at 34 Caso Lane. The alarm was set off by workers and units were quickly back in service.

Copake Rescue was on scene and was assisted by Northern Dutchess Paramedics.

New York State Electric and Gas responded to disconnect power.

The Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office and Columbia County EMS Coordinators were on the scene.

The New York State Police assisted at the scene.

The fire is being investigated by the Columbia County Cause & Origin Team.
