Food on the stove appears to be the cause of a kitchen fire in Chatham. Chatham Firefighters were
dispatched with mutual aid from Ghent, one engine, and Red Rock with their F.A.S.T. Team at 19:15. The fire
was located at the Welch residence at 261 Pond Hill Road in Chatham.
The fire damaged kitchen cabinets above the
stove. There was light smoke throughout the residence.
Chatham Rescue, Chatham Police and the Columbia County Sheriff's
Department were on the scene.
Chatham units were back in service at 19:47.
