City of Hudson firefighters contained a fire in the basement of a residence at 42 Fairview
Avenue in the city in the early morning hours of September 20.
Firefighters were dispatched at 4:06
a.m. to a reported working structure fire - a fire in the basement - of a residence. First arriving units found a fire visible
through the windows of the basement and both building occupants already vacated from the residence.
Crews
from Engine 30 and Tower 32 were joined by Engine 28 and Engine Rescue 279. Greenport Fire Department Station 1 was requested
by command to standby in quarters while Catskill Fire was requested to relocated Tower 315 and Engine 321 to Hudson's
Central Station.
Greenport Rescue Squad established rehabilitation on the scene.
Hudson
crews stretched two hand lines into the rear of the residence to make a quick knock down, while a third line was brought into
the front of the residence.
The fire was knocked down quickly and declared out within an hour.
Command
reported to Columbia 911 a dryer fire that caused damage to the basement.
The Columbia
County Cause and Origin Team was requested to scene. All units were back in service at 7:48 a.m.
