Emergency Responder Leadership Academy on July 14, 2017 in Poughkeepsie. The subject is EMS organizational sustainability. There will also be a specific segment on the mental health of EMS workers themselves.
Fire service leaders are welcome, as some of the content is translatable. This is being supported by NYS DOH and CE credits will be offered.

A Haz-Mat Safety Officer course will be on Saturday August 19, 2017 at the Columbia County Public Safety Building. Anyone who wishes to attend please contact Bud Godfroy and he will get you signed up.
This is also open to All Fire Departments in Columbia & Greene Counties
The Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office will be sponsoring a Firefighter 1 National Certification Exam tentatively set for Wednesday July 19 for practical testing & August 2, 2017 for written testing to be held at the Red Rock Fire House.
In 2015 we successfully tested 16 firefighters from various departments in Columbia County. The benefits of National Certification are numerous. Most states accept National Certification standards so duplicate training may not be required should firefighters relocate to other states. National Certification standards are also examples of OFPC's Best Practices in training.
We are currently seeking a minimum of 16 firefighters to meet the requirement for National Certification testing to occur. The fee for National Certification is $50.
ANY firefighter wishing to achieve Firefighter 1 National Certification is asked to contact Melissa Eigenbrodt at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information and applications. If the minimum number of applicants can be met, study materials and group practice sessions will be scheduled prior to the testing dates.

Due to demand we are adding a second SCBA-IFO Course in East Chatham to begin on 9/11/17. Attached is an amendment to the course listings previously sent and a class schedule for the East Chatham class. The SCBA-IFO class in Ancram beginning on 9/5 is currently full and there are 10+ on a waiting list. In adding the second class we hope to allow all who want to the ability to continue with the IFO class following the conclusion of BEFO. To ensure a smooth transition we need to consider the following:
1. We have an even balance of students in the 2 classes.
2. Attempt to allow each student to continue IFO from the location in which they took the BEFO when at all possible.
If one of your members is currently enrolled in IFO in Ancram and would like to move to the ECFC class, please have them email myself (email@example.com) of their intention. I will notify them as to availability. Once that is set we will reach out to the students on the reserve list and work to slot them in their desired location. Finally, we will open up remaining slots to anyone else that meets the pre-requisites. Those currently signed up for the Ancram IFO class and want to stay at that location do not have to do anything.
Please bear with us as we try to facilitate this on the fly. If any questions please let me know.
